Q. Hey, Im moving onto university and they've told me about their wide range of sports. I'm looking forward to the football(soccer) but I was told that the team is mega-fit. I'm actually quite fit and do work out quite a bit but I wanna be at the mega-fit standard as I do believe I'm a decent football player. Any help to get to that new level? Im a centre back, in case you wanted to know. Asked by John A - Mon Dec 29 16:13:10 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. Well I do know that some universities make their soccer players pass a fitness test before they can even play. So, my coach has told us that if we wanted to be fit enough to play college soccer then we have to make sure we work-out quite a bit on our own. You should go on long distance runs and also practice your sprinting. Also, you can never go wrong with the sit-ups and push-ups!(: As for the soccer.. well you should just do as much as possible to get comfortable with the ball at your feet and practice the basics in your game like passing and trapping and ball control like juggling! Answered by soccercutie1023 - Wed Dec 31 15:05:39 2008 do you guys think I can get into university of maryland college park with these grades/sat scores? Q. I'm a high school junior and I did mega bad first semester with a gpa of 1.71. however, I will definitely get a 3.42 this quarter. my sat scores aren't so good but I can fix them, so far I got: M:610 R:500 W:550 Total:1660 my extracurriculars: *I babysit and tutor young children in a poor neighborhood *I have a part time job at a bakery *My friends and I started our own band *Philosophy club at school Talents: * I play NINE musical instruments very well * I speak 5 languages(English, Spanish, Japanese, Bengali, and Hindi) and I'm gonna learn mandarin chinese over the summer * I can draw very well, my art has even been posted up at the rec center in greenbelt Also, I'm a U.S citizen(but I am of Indian descent) and I have come a… [cont.] Asked by uma b - Sat Feb 17 23:10:51 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. To be honest, since you did mega bad, you really have to push yourself and do mega good now. Aim for a 4.0 gpa and if you don't get there, that's ok because hopefully you would have gotten awfully close. Your SAT scores are decent. If you could retake them and get around a 1900, that would be great. You have a lot of extracurriculars but they have no academic support in them. You do have philosophy club and that's good. However, you need to join more clubs, and possibly join a sport. If you can do all that and still have a good gpa like 3.42, then that'll be great. Quick Summary: Aim for higher gpa join more clubs(prove how active you are in your school community) get community service hours join a sport(this along with clubs and a high… [cont.] Answered by thehazmat - Mon Feb 19 14:42:04 2007 Quantum Loop Theory - The Big Bounce not The Big Bang?
Q. According to new research, the universe didn't begin with a big bang, after all - more of a big boing; the result of a previous universe contracting before bouncing back out to become ours. This is the latest news from the mega brainy quantum cosmologists at Penn State university. Their revised calculations also showed that some parameters that exist in the previous universe do not exist in ours, meaning this previous universe would not have been identical to our own. "The eternal recurrence of absolutely identical universes would seem to be prevented by the apparent existence of an intrinsic cosmic forgetfulness". If this is indeed correct someone explain - for a layman like myself - does this demonstrate evidence for (a) either a closed… [cont.] Asked by Dylan P - Mon Jul 2 15:29:37 2007 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments A. It's a cool idea, but again, we're not sure yet. But it is cool. From what I understand of the article, it would support a universe that would eventually collapse back in on itself. They would be many universes, one after another. But Brane theory would predict many of these collapsing universes, not just one. Not sure how it fits in with string theory yet, but I don't know if there'd be a lot of overlap with the theories. But yep, cool stuff! There was another good explanation of the article here.
